(David:)”Nyarai, did I ever tell you of my first night at this castle when I was ten years old and barely knew Chad?” Chad and Ferla tremble harder, ashamed of themselves.
(Nyarai:)”No you have not. What happened, what did you experience? Where you as strong back then as you are now?”
(David:)”NO. So I was not a hero yet back then; Chad was still convincing me to take responsibility for the powers I had, which was normal back then.
Chad had ideals and I was realistic; he though we were meant for more, destined for greatness, so we needed to be responsible with our destinies.
If anybody else heard me say this they would not believe me, you are one of the few who know how great Chad can be sometimes… though silly.” Nyarai nods.
(David:)”Wanna know why I decided to become a hero?” Nyarai nods hard. (Nyarai:)”Yes! Please do tell me!” (David:)”I cried, that’s why.” Nyarai looks confused.
(David:)”Chad’s castle really scared me that night, I was chased by many evil gods and back then Ferla was not as tame as she is now.”
Nyarai looks behind herself, shocked at Ferla and Chad, who are cringing from embarrassment.
(David:)”Ferla chased me just like any other monster would, that was before Chad tamed her.” Nyarai stares hard at Ferla who is blushing and hiding herself behind Chad.
Peeking at David and Nyarai from behind Chad. (David:)”I fought desperately for hours against multiple evil gods… though not at the same time.”
Nyarai looks in awe at David. (David:)”This castle really did a number on me, I cried for the pain these “gods” did to others and maybe even a little bit from fear and exasperation.
Desperately looking for a way out, trying to escape from what I did not deserve; realising that I could… but others can not.
So I fought as hard as I could, scaring off some of the evil gods; almost killing Ferla and Ra- Re-… some other evil god I can’t remember the name of.
And then Chad returned from his trip to buy groceries………… FUCKING GROCERIES IS WHY I AM A HERO! ARGH! CHAD!”
(Chad:)”Don’t blame me, I did whatever felt right through fate back then! I knew that whatever I did would help! No matter how stupid the story sounds, it worked!
Don’t blame me for the only thing standing in the way of you becoming a hero, is me buying groceries! I invited you to convince you, don’t blame the process!”
Nyarai learns a lot about Chad and David’s relationship through their argument, watching Chad and David arguing about the castle, fate and groceries… mostly about groceries.
(Nyarai:)”You guys are so silly. David, it should not matter where you came from, or where your thoughts came from.
What matters is what you are, what your actions made you into.” Nyarai comforts David, for his outrage at Chad buying groceries.
(David:)”Yes, I know. I am not that shallow, but it still pisses me off. Knowing that Chad always accidentally gets what he wants.”
(Chad:)”Sorry, I stopped relying on fate and destiny not that long ago. It was too addictive, too easily gained; yet it was not perfect.”
(Nyarai:)”I think you should be happy that Chad and your destinies intertwined, do you not love Chad?” (David:)”…”
Chad smiles super brightly, his presence and spirit infecting others with his own happiness; a simple “magic” called empathy.
(Chad:)”David I love you!” He says super excitedly, jumping over to David and patting him on the head.
David is so prideful all the time, and treating him like a little brother and patting him on the head, is the best way to both mess with and show love for him.
David is kind of annoyed by feeling Chad’s bad and good intentions, but he still accepts the love and comfort from the moron; Chad happily patting David on his head, because it is the best.
Ferla sneaks over and also takes advantage of the situations to get a little closer to David, emotionally… and physically.
Ferla pats David’s head slowly and gently, like she is afraid of scaring him away; like he is some kind of rare animal she needs to be careful with.
David accept the patting from Ferla, a little annoyed, but she has good intentions, probably…
(David:)”Nyarai, what do you think of Chad?” (Nyarai:)”He is a problem child, but a great problem child.” She smiles sweetly.
Both insulting Chad for his chaos and complimenting him for it. (David:)”What about me?”
(Nyarai:)”You are orderly… a little too orderly; you need to be more of a problem child, but not like Chad, more like yourself.”
David smiles, Nyarai is oddly good at complimenting people. (David:)”What do you think of Ferla?” Nyarai quietly stares at Ferla.
(Nyarai:)”… She is a silly girl, but I think Chad gave her whatever she was missing; she seems more like herself when he is around.”
Ferla blushes and Chad pats her on her head; David feels that Nyarai is very perceptive and a good addition to their lives.
She is nice, wise and strong, her magic is not as horrible as Chad’s; David likes Nyarai and her maturity, while Nyarai likes him for his childishness.
Another good day at the Doomsday castle.
